3 Canadian Things Worth Waiting For

1. Winnipeg’s The Weakerthans will release “Reunion Tour” on Sept. 25th, and if the first mp3 released is any indication, the record will be a lonesome stunner, not unlike the chilly, windswept plains of their home province of Manitoba.

The band has also released a series of webisodes previewing the album, including this segment, in which we see the band curling:

2. The Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place Sept. 5th – Sept. 16th, announced its final lineup and there are a lot of interesting films screening, including: Jonathan Demme’s Jimmy Carter documentary “Man From Plains,” Brian DePalma’s Iraq war drama “Redacted,” Paul Schrader’s “The Walker,” which stars Woody Harrelson and Lauren Bacall, and a new Michael Moore documentary called “Captain Mike Across America” about the muckraker’s 45-day campaign trip during the 2004 elections. The festival will also screen two films about Joy Division, Grant Gee’s band-titled documentary, “Joy Division,” which features the involvement of all the surviving members, and “Control,” the biopic of singer Ian Curtis.

3. The seventh season of “Degrassi: The Next Generation” will begin on The N on Oct. 5th, and will take place during the second semester of the school year seen during the previous season. Jake Epstein will return as Craig for several episodes and the season will tackle date rape, alcoholism, and other teen-oriented issues. Check out an episode from last season to prepare:
