Plug and Play

Boyz II Men, you had it right – it is so hard to say goodbye to yesterday, especially when yesterday fucking rocked. But we know all too well that trying to recapture your freewheelin’, bus tourin’, stage divin’ youth doesn’t mesh so nicely with mortgages, careers and families. We didn’t name it YuppiePunk for nothing.

So if, like us, you can’t find the time to rock like you used to, witness the Punk-O-Matic. This free little game lets you write your own pop-punk jam, building it riff by riff with a few mouse clicks. The song kinda sucks, but it’s easier than auditioning alcoholics found on Craigslist.

If you’re more Steve Vai than Steve-O, you might prefer the incredible Guitar Shred Show. Via a really well-animated weird flash game/tool, you can learn the seven modes by endlessly wanking on a virtual six-string like one of those asshole techies at Guitar Center. Putz around on the site and you’ll find the Mountain of the Tapping Dwarves; go there to turn your keyboard into an absurd riff machine.
