When the series was significantly re-tooled for its second season upon Ms. Bonet&#039;s pregnancy-related departure (new sets, much expanded role for Jasmine Guy, etc.), the theme song was re-recorded by Phoebe Snow; Aretha Franklin was the *third* performer to sing it.</description>
