Because Nothing Says Street Cred Like Reality TV

We’re pretty sure Epitaph Records never discovered a band after seeing them on a mom-switching reality TV show. But even if this were Epitaph’s AandR method of choice, they sure as fuck wouldn’t be interested in 3 Kisses, the husband and wife-led punk rock trio that appeared on this week’s episode of “Wife Swap.” Can you imagine Tim Armstrong telling MaximumRockNRoll how his band got signed: “Yeah, we like played ‘Hyena’ on ‘Trading Spouses’ and Brett called up Disney to get a hold of us because he knew he just had to produce our first record.”
But things are clearly on the up and up for these Texas punks. According to the band’s bio they were just inducted into the Independent Music Registry and their song “Girls’ Night” was selected by Rock Solid Pressure as one of the Top 15 songs of 2005. Woah, sorry guys. We had no idea. We take it all back. And now that we’re thinking about it, we should probably pay $5 for one of your autographed photos before the price becomes way out of our range.
But don’t take our word for their suckiness. Check out their songs for yourself. Like Tilt, only bad: “Girls Night Out” | “Out of Control” | “Summer Love Song“

Open letter to the Meeks Family.
1) It is pretty amazing that you guys managed to make the self-proclaimed anti-feminist, anti-rock, anti-alcohol, anti-pants, Mennonite Hoover family look more way cool and rock and roll than your self-proclaimed ‘punk’ family. I’m impressed.
2) You know what punks don’t do? Insist on being referred to as “Texas Party Punk” all the time. I think that must have been in your contract with ABC.
3) Special message to the Meeks children, Benji and Hannah: Yo momma’s so stupid that she married Yo Daddy.
