The Taming of the Crue
On the VH1 special “Resurrecting Motley Crue,” the veteran hard rock band reunites for this summer’s Red, White and Crue tour. The tour was created by the band’s management team, who decides that the band will reunite, having never actually checked with the band. In the end, everyone agrees to do the tour, which is no real surprise considering what the size of this cash cow must be. But at least we get to learn some interesting new tidbits about the Crue:
1) Tommy and Vince hate each other
This is likely due in large part to Tommy bad mouthing Vince in his recent New York Times best seller “Tommyland.”
2) Mick’s bones are fused together
He has a rare disease called anklyosing spondilitis (this would be an excellent name for a death metal band).
3) Vince is a fucking dork
OK, we already knew this.
4) Those guys have a lot of fucking tattoos
Truth be told, we don’t ever get to see Mick Mars’ skin, and Vince hasn’t added any tats since the ’80s, but Tommy and Nikki are nothing but ink. We wonder what they’ll look like at 80 all wrinkles and skulls.
5) Bob Rock currently sports a mullet
What other hairstyle would be appropriate for a man who produced both Metallica and Cher?
6) Mick Mars had his hip replaced and his neck is fused to his spine
The most kickass metal hunchback guitarist ever!
The show’s most memorable line was delivered by the band’s manager to Nikki: “I liked you better when you were on heroin.”
Not related to the Crue, but also interesting: The world’s third best arm wrestling movie (and 5th best Sylvester Stallone film) is finally out on DVD.
And finally: This is going to be excellent.
