Face it, Dave Grohl is the new Phil Collins. Both musicians found fame as drummers, Grohl with Nirvana, and Collins with Genesis, only to succeed yet again after moving to the front of the stage. Here’s more data:

1) The band Grohl fronts now, The Foo Fighters, is less influential than the band he first found fame with (granted that band was fucking Nirvana, but still), and the same would be said of Phil Collins’ solo career versus his time in Genesis.

2) Dave Grohl has less hair now than he did in his previous band. Same with Phil Collins.

3) Neither guy gives a shit about rock star pomposity.

4) Both Dave and Phil have sported beards.

5) Both the Foos and the Phils had album covers featuring photographs of the back of someone’s head.

6) Collins has multiple Grammy Awards. So does Dave.

Still not convinced? Just wait until 2012, when Grohl will be nominated for an Oscar for his theme to “The Lion King VIII: The Roar of the Worlds.”
